Random winner picker with a signed, permanent record

Winner Picker is a random winner picker for lists you already have: raffle tickets, giveaway entrants, order numbers from a promotion. You upload up to 2,000,000 rows and choose how many winners you need. The result goes on a permanent link together with the file it was drawn from and a record we sign.

Test draws are free. A published draw costs tokens, priced by the number of entries in your list.

From your list to a published result

These are the steps of the draw form itself. You need an account to run a draw, a test included, and you can sign up with an email address or a Google account.

  1. Name the draw. The name is printed on the result page and written into the signed record. It cannot be edited afterwards, so write it the way your entrants should read it, for example the giveaway title and date.
  2. Add the entries. Upload a CSV file whose first row holds the column names, up to 2,000,000 rows and 50 MB, or paste up to 10,000 lines. Before you continue, the form shows how many entries it found, which columns it read, and how many rows repeat another row.
  3. Choose the winners and the visibility. Set how many winners to draw, from one up to the number of entries. Then choose public, private behind a password, or a test that saves nothing.
  4. Run it. The cost in tokens is shown before anything is spent. The winners appear in place order, first place at the top, and a public or private draw is published on its own link straight away. You also get the link by email.

What an entrant can check without asking you

A winner announced in a post or an email asks entrants to take the organizer's word for it. A Winner Picker result gives them something to inspect. The result page lists the winners with every column from your file, offers the original CSV for download, and names the source of the random seed, with the NIST beacon pulse number when the beacon was used.

Each published draw also carries a record signed with Ed25519. It covers the drawing number, the name, the completion time in UTC, the number of entries and winners, a SHA-256 fingerprint of the uploaded file, a fingerprint of the winners list, and the seed source. On the verify page anyone can enter the draw ID and confirm that the record was issued by OnlineRandomizer.com and has not changed since it was published. Hashing a downloaded copy of the file gives the same fingerprint shown there, so an entrant can also confirm the list they are looking at is the list that was drawn from. The public key is published on the same page for anyone who wants to repeat the check offline.

The signature proves that a record is authentic and unaltered. It does not by itself prove that a selection was fair, and we do not claim it does. What it fixes in place is the evidence: the entry list, the time and the outcome, none of which the account that ran the draw can edit or withdraw later.

How the random winner picker chooses

Each draw builds a fresh seed by hashing a pulse from the NIST Randomness Beacon together with entropy from the server's operating system. The seed drives an AES-256 based generator, and every number is drawn with rejection sampling, which avoids the small bias a remainder operation would add.

Winners are selected by reservoir sampling in one pass over the file. That is why a list of two million rows never has to fit in memory, and why the first row and the last row of your file have the same chance. The selected winners are shuffled before places are assigned, so first place does not lean toward the top of the file. The draw mechanics page describes each part in full.

Where it gets used

Giveaways

Entrants from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or a newsletter have to be exported or copied into a CSV first, because Winner Picker has no connection to any platform. What it adds is a duplicate count before the draw and a link you can post with the announcement.

Raffles and tombolas

One row per ticket, so a buyer holding ten tickets has ten chances. Draw as many winners as there are prizes and hand them out in place order.

Sweepstakes and promotions

A private draw keeps a customer list behind a password and out of search results, and still produces the signed record. Records stay for five years.

Lists kept in Excel

The upload takes CSV, not .xlsx. Saving the sheet in the right CSV format, or pasting the cells, is covered step by step.

Public, private and test draws

A public draw can be opened by anyone with the link, is listed in public records, and lets anyone download the full entry file. That suits ticket numbers and does not suit email addresses or full names, and the form asks you to confirm you understand this before it continues. A private draw locks the winners and the file behind a password you set and is not listed. No draw page, public or private, appears in search engine results. A test draw runs the whole process and shows the winners, then keeps nothing: no record, no link, no stored file.

What a draw costs

You pay in tokens, by the number of entries in the file as counted on the server. A list of up to 500 entries costs 5 tokens, and a list of 10,000 costs 56 tokens. The number of winners does not change the price, a private draw costs the same as a public one, and test draws are free. A token is 0.50 EUR at list price, less in larger purchases, and tokens do not expire. The pricing page has a calculator for your list size.

What it does not do

It does not import comments, followers or likes from any platform. It does not remove duplicate rows: a repeated row is a second chance, which is sometimes intended, and the count is shown so you can decide. There is no separate reserve-winner setting; if you need alternates, draw more winners than prizes and say in advance which places are reserves. And a draw cannot be replayed. The seed is not published, so running the same file again gives a different result, recorded as a separate draw.
